TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Yenny Wahid recalled the likeness of her late-father and fourth Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid “Gus Dur” that she sees is ingrained in President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo. The trait Yenny refers to is their ability to justly lead the nation.
According to Yenny, the leadership of both men wholly presented social equity for Indonesians by fulfilling the basic rights of Indonesian citizens. She elaborated that both his father and Jokowi do not differentiate religious beliefs, faith, skin color, race, gender, or social status.

“Both of them think and act in a simple manner, but is rich in its work,” said Yenny Wahid at the Gus Dur movement house in Kalibata, South Jakarta yesterday in the context of the upcoming 2019 presidential election.
Gus Dur’s attitude, according to Yenny, has taken inspiration from many world figures such as Mahatma Gandhi who fought for his people without the use of violence.
“It’s figures like Gus Dur and Gandhi that we need from leaders nowadays,” she said.
In regards to Yenny Wahid`s declaration of support for Jokowi – Ma’ruf Amin in the 2019 election, she said that the decision to do so was based on rational thinking and also a stringent spiritual process.
