Police Investigate Video of Violent Mob Killing Haringga Sirila

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police are hunting down the individual who recorded and spread the sadistic video of a mob violently assaulting Haringga Sirila, a football supporter of Persija Jakarta, at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api stadium parking lot on Sunday.
“The police cyber team is currently working on identifying the person that spread the video,” said Police Spokesman Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo in a text message Tempo received today, Sept. 25.

Police have named at least eight suspects responsible for the death of Haringga; Budiman (41), Goni Abdulrahman (20), Cepy Gunawan (20), Aditya Aggara (19), Dadang Supriatna (19), Joko Susilo (31), SM (17) and DF (16).
Eight of the suspects are charged with Article 170 of the criminal law (KUHP) as the men had been involved in the mob assault that eventually led to Haringga’s death.
According to Dedi, based on eyewitness testimonies, the mob rallied a larger group after shouting to the crowd that the Haringga, that was being chased, was a Persija supporter.
