TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In the spirit of supporting the 2018 Asian Games, the Communication and Informatics Ministry (Kominfo) released a mobile app called the Duta Suporter Indonesia which translates to Indonesian supporter’s ambassador.
According to Kominfo Spokeswoman Niken Widiastuti, the app is aimed to accommodate the spirit of the Asian Games from every Indonesian and not just for the two cities where the Asian Games venue is held; Jakarta and Palembang.
“This event isn’t just for the people in the host cities of Jakarta and Palembang, but is for every Indonesian citizen to enjoy. That is why we created the Duta Suporter Indonesia app,” said Niken during the app’s grand launching in Jakarta today, July 10.
The Android-based app that is already available for download in Google Play Store was developed by Enda Nasution. He said that the app is meant for the Indonesians who want to support the 2018 Asian Games.
“Not everyone can be an athlete, but there will be 68 Indonesians from 34 provinces that will be chosen from both genders [to be a supporter at the events],” he said.
Enda further explained that users only need to download the app and register their cell-phone number and other required data. Once a user is officially registered, the app will then give its users a weekly task for the ambassadors and daily quizzes.
“The tasks would be uploaded on the user’s social media accounts to be voted,” Enda continued.
The app also provides information and news regarding the 2018 Asian Games. The chosen ambassadors will have the chance to visit Jakarta to attend the 2018 Asian Games opening ceremony on a free-of-charge accommodation.
