TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police confirmed that the investigation into the pornographic chat involving the leader of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Rizieq Shihab has been terminated. The Police said that the Letter of Investigation Termination has been issued.
"The investigators have closed the case," said Chief of Information Bureau of the Public Relation Division of the National Police Brig. Gen. Mohammad Iqbal on Sunday, June 17, 2018.
Iqbal said that the investigation into the case was stopped because investigators still have not discovered the perpetrator who uploaded the pornographic content. The conclusion was made following a case press release.
Iqbal said that the termination of the investigation is the authority of the investigators. Iqbal added that the Police had also received a request for a termination letter from Rizieq's attorney.
News about the termination of Rizieq's case has been circulated since early 2018. However, the Police were reluctant to provide a clarification regarding the news. On Eid Al-Fitr, Rizieq uploaded a video containing his appreciation to the Police who decided to terminate the case. Rizieq said that he has received an Investigation Termination Letter from his attorney.
