Communication Ministry Blocks 34 Radical Sites in April 2018

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Communication and Informatics Ministry has blocked 34 websites or accounts allegedly contained with radicalism in Indonesia throughout April 2018.

The ministry’s Public Relations Bureau acting head Noor Ihza mentioned during January until April, as many as 237 websites and contents had been shut down. He ensured the government is seriously made an effort in tackling radicalism spread in cyberspace.

“We are seriously combating this issue. Thus far, our team still conduct monitoring and openly receive complaints on negative channels including radicalism contents from the public,” Noor added.

He expressed optimism about the measure in taking down contents or websites containing radicalism could minimalize the terror acts in Indonesia. “We are optimistic this will lower the spreading of radicalism in cyberspace,” he hoped.
