TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Istiqlal Mosque managements reportedly will provide meals on a daily basis for visitors during breaking fast hours throughout the Ramadan month, as the Mosque has done for the past years.
According to the Istiqlal Mosque Head of Protocol Abu Hurairah Abdul Salam, there will be around 4,000 meal boxes that will be handed out daily in this year’s Ramadan month.
“We provided 3,000 meals last year. This year we will God Willingly provide 4,000 meals,” said Abu Hurairah Abdul Salam on Wednesday, May 16.
Furthermore, Mosque managements said one of the caterers will be Rumah Makan Sederhana, which has fulfilled the requirement of having an official trading permit (SIUP) and pays taxes.
Other than that, each restaurant or catering service are not permitted to provide more than 1,000 Ramadan meals each day to maintain food quality. “If it’s ordered more than 1,000, we fear that the food’s consistency will not be the same,” Abu Hurairah jokingly said.
