TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) submitted a judicial review of the two-year sentence he received after he was found guilty of blasphemy. This has attracted reactions from Eggi Sudjana, a member of a group that named themselves defenders of ulema and activists team (TPUA).
According to Eggi, he and his team will conduct several efforts to fight against the judicial review of the former Jakarta Governor. His first step is to contact the Supreme Court by sending them a letter.

“We will hold a press conference. Hopefully, they will read [the letter],” said Eggi on Monday, February 19. “If the [judicial review continues], then there will be large-scale rallies.”
A copy of Ahok’s blasphemy case judicial review circulated on Saturday, February 17, that was handed to the North Jakarta District Court on February 2. The Fifi Lety Indra & Partners Law Firm was also mentioned in the file.
Supreme Court Spokesman Agung Abdullah confirmed that Ahok had submitted for a judicial review, although the Supreme Court has yet to receive the files.
Furthermore, Eggi maintained that Ahok’s move is not legally logical since there are three important aspects that need to be considered before submitting a judicial review. Such as a novum (existing evidence that was not presented in court), the judge’s blunder, and an unsystematic application of the law.
Eggi suspects that Ahok is receiving special treatment and accused the Supreme Court of practicing a discriminative law enforcement.
