Jakarta Floods, Thousands Evacuated in South and East Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta floods caused by overflowing water from Bogor made thousands of residents displaced or evacuated to safety points up until Tuesday, February 6.
Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) stated that the most flooded areas are located in South and East Jakarta.

In South Jakarta, it consisted of Pasar Minggu, Pancoran, Cilandak, Jagakarsa and Tebet. In East Jakarta, it includes Kramat Jati, Jatinegara, Pasar Rebo, Makasar and Cakung.
For East Jakarta, the water level is uneven. The flooded area is Chinese Bidara, with the puddle of 60-250cm. 673 people were evacuated to Chinese Bidara Village office, SDN 05 and Sasana Krida Building.
East Jakarta`s Dept. of Fire and Rescue Services noted that there were 15 flood points in the area on Monday, 5 February.
The flooded areas in East Jakarta are Cililitan, Bidara Cina, Gedong, Kampung Melayu, West Cakung and Kebon Manggis.
He said that 32 rubber boats and 150 flood alert personnel have been prepared to evacuate and help the residents of East Jakarta.

Jakarta Police stated that there was a traffic diversion from Kampung Melayu to West Jatinegara and from Kalibata Raya to Hero Cemetery (Pasar Minggu).
Meanwhile, for South Jakarta, the flooded area is Srengseng Sawah, with 24 families or 73 people. The water level in this area is 100-300 cm.
Previously, as many as 329 residents of RW 07 Rawajati Urban Village was evacuated to Rawajati Health Center and a resident's house.
