TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - Directorate General of Immigration provides a service for electronic passport application in Monas, Jakarta on Sunday 21, January. A total of 1,600 electronic passports or e-Paspor are prepared by the Immigration Office for the application service in Monas tomorrow.
"From the total quota of 1,600 e-Paspor, Soekarno-Hatta Immigration office prepares 250 e-Paspor," said Enang Supriyadi, the Head of Soekarno-Hatta Airport Immigration Office that is also participating in the event in Monas.
Enang said the passport application service is a part of the 68th Anniversary of the Immigration DG. This is also part of the attempt to facilitate the queue of online passport application due to the high number of fictitious accounts or fake data, he added.
The Immigration DG's online passport application system was disrupted due to the multifold number of registered accounts that reach 72,000. Tens of thousands of accounts were found to be fictitious and many other passport applicants cannot register because it is full.
The online passport application was created to ease the public in applying for a passport. Previously, an applicant must come to the Immigration Office and line up to apply for the passport. The service is improved by changing the queue to be online so the applicants will be prepared before coming to the Immigration office.
Enang said the Jakarta Immigration office opens booths in the Monas from Sunday morning to evening. They will serve both online and offline e-Paspor applicants, he said. The payment facilities are also set in Monas.
The Immigration DG holds the passport application service in Monas since December 16, 2017, until Sunday, January 21, 2018. The event is greatly welcomed by the public.
