TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy chief Laode Muhammad Syarif said the anti-graft commission questioned Setya Novanto’s aide Adj. Comr. Reza Pahlevi at the KPK building, South Jakarta, on Thursday, January 18.
"Reza has been questioned yesterday at the KPK," said Laode when contacted by Tempo on Friday, January 19.

Laode explained, Reza attended the questioning voluntarily and was accompanied by members of the National Police’s Internal Affairs Division, "as mandated by the internal National Police regulations."
Earlier, the KPK scheduled a questioning for Reza on Wednesday, January 10. However, Reza failed to attend the summons, and the questioning was rescheduled to Monday, January 15. Again, Reza did not show up.
KPK spokesman, Febri Diansyah, said the KPK needed Reza's explanation regarding the investigation into an alleged obstruction of justice (OJ) case in relation to Setya Novanto's graft case. Two OJ suspects have been named in the case, namely Setya’s former laywer Fredrich Yunadi and Medika Permata Hijau Hospital’s doctor Bimanesh Sutarjo.

The KPK has slapped a travel ban for Reza for six months since December 8, 2017. Febri claimed it was difficult to bring Reza in due to technical constraints, such as the time and place for the questioning. The KPK and the police, Febri said, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) related to the place of questioning for police officers in certain cases.
Internal Affairs Division head Gen. Martuani Sormin claimed that he would not prohibit the KPK to investigate Setya Novanto's aide. However, the National Police required the questioning to be conducted at the National Police Headquarters, instead of the KPK building.
