Kulon Progo Airport Construction Kicks off End of January

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I (AP I) targeted the construction of the New Yogyakarta International Airport (NYIA), Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta to begin by the end of January. Corporate Communication of PT AP I Awaluddinstated that the construction is still halted by the process of land clearance.
"Construction begins at the end of January since it is scheduled to operate in early 2019," Awaluddin said on Sunday (7/1).
Awaluddin explained that construction has begun in areas that are cleared. The construction of such areas includes building airside comprising of runway, taxiway and apron.
"Building airside is done at the same time with landside work, namely passenger terminal and cargo," ujarnya.
Awaluddin said that the construction of NYIA is divided into two stages in which each will be built in 2020-2031 and 2031-2041.
