TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) survey shows that Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is still the public`s top choice for the president. The survey that was done in September involving 1,057 respondents with a margin error of 3.1 percent and a confidence level of 95 percent.
SMRC executive director Djayadi Hanan said President Joko Widodo or Jokowi would have won if the presidential election was held this year.
Meanwhile, Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) party chairman Prabowo Subianto gained 12 percent of supports followed by Democratic Party chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono with 1.6 percent of supports, according to the survey. Other figures gained supports of below 1 percent.

Djayadi revealed that Jokowi’s electability had been increasing from October 2015 to September 2017. In October 2015, Jokowi’s electability reached 25.5 percent and increased to 38.9 percent in September 2017.
Meanwhile, Prabowo’s electability dropped from 13.6 percent to 12 percent, And Susilo’s electability declined from 4.5 percent to 1.6 percent.
“Other names are not quite competitive,” Djayadi said when presenting the survey results at his office in Jakarta today, October 5.
Other figures gaining popularity include Military Commander Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo. However, Gatot’s electability is still far below Jokowi and Prabowo that stands at 0.3 percent.
Djayadi explained that Jokowi’s high electability was due to his satisfactory performance in the public’s eye. Since 2016, Djayadi added, the public’s satisfaction level on Jokowi’s performance has been above 60 percent.
