TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State power company PLN will build public power-charging stations (SPLU) in tourist areas. PLN plans to provide charging stations in eco-friendly tourism areas in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), such as in Mandalika, Samota, Tiga Gili, and Sekotong.
PLN West Nusa Tenggara's human resources and general manager Deddy Hidayat that the first place they will build SPLUs on is Tiga Gili, "since the area prohibit the use of oil-fueled vehicles".
The SPLU project is also aimed at supporting the development of eco-friendly transportation in Mataram.

In Gili, many people have begun using electric bikes and motorcycles. PLN will coordinate with the local government to determine the locations for the SPLU as well as obtaining the installation permits.
In Mataram, SPLUs are available at the Sangkareang Park and Udayana Park since October 2016.
As of today, PLN has built at least 875 SPLUs in several locations in Indonesia. The infrastructure, developed by PLN since 2015, can be found in Jakarta, Bandung, Bangka Belitung, Riau and Riau Islands, Muara Bungo, Bengkulu, Lampung, Manado, Gorontalo, Palu, Kotamobagu, Yogyakarta, Bali, Makassar and Mataram.
The power-charging stations in Jakarta were launched on Aug. 4 last year. As of July 2017, they are available in 542 locations. This year, PLN aims to increase the number to 1,000 units, especially in Jakarta. The SPLU location can be found through Google Maps when searched using the keyword "SPLU PLN".
