TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna H. Laoly revealed that the ministry received a request from China to deport 92 Chinese citizens who were arrested in Surabaya.
They were arrested during a police bust for allegedly being involved in international cyber crime activities. “[China] requested the suspects to be deported,” said Yasonna on Monday, July 31.

According to Yasonna, the arrests were made possible thanks to a partnership between the National Police and China authorities following numerous reports from local Chinese people who became cyber crime victims.

Earlier, the police arrested 92 Chinese citizens in Surabaya who are now being detained at Jakarta Police.
Police also raided an elite residence in Pondok Indah, South Jakarta, and arrested 27 suspects allegedly involved in a cybercrime syndicate consisting of Chinese citizens. In addition, authorities successfully arrested 30 Chinese citizens in Bali for a similar case.
