TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - HTI legal body can be revoked before the deliberation of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perpu) No. 2/2017 on mass organizations is finalized. The deputy chairman of the House of Representatives’ (DPR) Commission II overseeing home affairs Lukman Edy said the statement.
“As the Perppu is issued, it is immediately in affect and the government plan will be executed,” Lukman said at the Senayan Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta today, July 19.

Lukman explained that even if the House rejected the Perpu, the revocation of Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia's (HTI) legal body would remain valid.
“Therefore, HTI would still be disbanded. There’s no way that it could rise again if the Perpu was rejected,” he added.
Lukman views that the government would face a risk of losing the momentum to disband the Islamic organization if they postponed the plan.
Earlier today, the Law and Human Rights Ministry finally revoked HTI’s permit following the issuance of the Perppu.
Freddy Harris, director general of general law administration at the Law and Human Rights Ministry, said that the government is taking a firm action against anti-Pancasila organizations.
Freddy explained that HTI’s permit was not unilaterally revoked since the government has gathered information and data related to the organization’s track record.
