TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Adiatma Sardjito, Vice President Corporate Communication of state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina, said that LPG consumption increased by 4 percent during Ramadan and Eid compared to regular period. Some 23,105 metric tons of LPG was sold in the period.
"Even compared to the previous year, LPG consumption rose by 10 percent," Adiatma said in a written statement yesterday.

Adiatma said that the sales of 3 kilogram LPG, which is still subsidized by the government, was up by 5 percent to 20,689 metric tons during Eid, compared to the average sales in January-May of 19,963 metric tons. Compared to 2016, the average sales was 19,309 metric tons, meaning that it increased by 7 percent.
An increase in sales was also experienced by Bright Gas, i.e. 178 percent or 416 metric tons compared to Eid 2016 which stood at 229 metric tons, despite the fact that June sales dropped 4 percent compared to the previous month.

As for 12 kilogram, 50 kilogram LPG canisters, and Bulk gas during Ramadan and Eid, all decreased compared to January-May. Bulk gas slipped by 17 percent, 12 kilogram LPG dropped 7 percent, and 50 kilogram LPG decreased 7 percent. "In general, Pertamina fuel and LPG stock and distribution were safe and smooth," Adiatma said.
Aside from gas, PT Pertamina (Persero) reports sharp increase in non-subsidized fuel consumption compared to Eid period last year. Data from fuel task force working since 15 days before and seven days after Eid shows a significant rise in consumption of all types of non-subsidized fuel.
