TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Central Java and Yogyakarta branch of state oil and gas company Pertamina guaranteed that the strike launched by fuel tanker drivers in the Tegal fuel depot today would not affect fuel distributions for travelers passing the north coast highway (Pantura) during the homecoming season.
Participants of the strike claimed that they remain committed to securing the fuel distribution during the most crucial moment in Ramadan.
“It would simply not affect fuel distributions and services for homecoming travelers,” Andar Titi Lestari, communication and relations manager at the Central Java and Yogyakarta branch of Pertamina, said on Monday, June 19.
Andar stated that only 16 workers participated in the strike, and only one of them is a tanker driver. “They are merely showing their solidarity towards their fellow workers,” Andar added.
According to Andar, not all employees in the Central Java fuel depot are participating in the strike. Andar called on the public to remain calm and not panic during the strike.
