TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Abdurrahman Mochamad Fachir said that the ministry is ready to facilitate police in bringing back home the FPI leader Rizieq Syihab once the institution issues a red notice against him.
“Once the police announce a red notice, we will immediately communicate with the country he (Rizieq) is in,” Fachir said on Wednesday, May 17.
After the red notice issuance, the countries listed as Interpol members must cooperate with Indonesia. “The nature of a red notice is a partnership between countries, which has been an international norm,” he says.
According to Fachir, the Foreign Affairs Ministry has always been facilitating government agencies that are handling certain international level cases. But in Rizieq’s case, the police has yet to request such assistance from the ministry.
“There are no requests until today. We will definitely conduct a follow-up once the law enforcer requests [a red notice], it all depends on the law enforcers,” he said. However, the ministry will continue to monitor Rizieq’s whereabouts based on the information received by the police.
According to the latest police report, the Islamic Defender Front leader is currently in Saudi Arabia.
Rizieq Syihab has once again ignored his second summons for the alleged pornography case which implicates himself and Firza Husein.
Rizieq’s lawyer Kapitra Ampera stated that his client refuses to travel back home because of the unjust surrounding the Indonesian police.
