TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that the government will pitch a number of infrastructure projects to foreign investors at the One Belt One Road (OBOR) Summit in China.
Luhut revealed that the projects are not concentrated in Java. “There are no projects in Java in order to balance the development between Java and outside Java,” he told Tempo after a meeting on the OBOR Summit at his office in Jakarta today, May 11.
The minister explained that the projects include a railway construction in Kuala Tanjung, North Sumatera, which is expected to connect the region to Toba Lake and Pekanbaru, Riau. Other projects include infrastructures development in Manado, North Sulawesi, and Bontang refinery in East Kalimantan. “We will also pitch projects in Mandalika,” he added.
The total value of the infrastructure projects is estimated to reach at least US$30 billion. Luhut revealed that the projects are expected to be financed under the business-to-business scheme to ease the country’s debt ratio.
Also attending the OBOR meeting were State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno, National Development Planning Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, and Investment Coordinating Agency head Thomas Trikasih Lembong.
