TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Setara Institute issued a number of warnings directed to the citizens of Jakarta prior to the second round of Jakarta Gubernatorial Election voting day on April 19, 2017. Setara Institute urged each and every element of society in Jakarta to vote for the candidate with great quality and integrity.
"Go to the voting stations and exercise your right to vote with enthusiast, objectively, and independently without any pressure," says Setara Institute's Management Board Chairman Hendardi, on Monday, April 17, 2017.
Hendardi argued that Jakarta's Gubernatorial election will influence the national politics considering Jakarta's location as a capital city and the involvements of well-known public figures throughout its process.
"Jakarta's political contestation is gripping, high cost, which includes the high security cost since social stability is in the hands of authorities,”" Hendardi said.
"Prioritize your self-independence as a voter by letting go and ignoring any form of political identity that has no relevance with the election," Hendardi continued.
