TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Rachland Nashidik, spokesman for Jakarta governor candidate Agus Yudhoyono Harimurti, denied reports that Agus' supporters are appealed to cast their votes for Anies Baswedan in the second election round.
"Agus have not decided anything for the Jakarta gubernatorial election," Rachland told Tempo on Thursday, February 16, 2017.
Meanwhile, in a written statement to Tempo, the spokesman for Agus and his running mate Sylviana Murni, Rizki Aljupri, asked their voters to choose Anies in the next round.
"On this occasion, I would like to invite all people who voted for Agus to support Mas Anies and BangSandi in the second round on April 19," Rizki said in a written statement on Wednesday, February 15.
Rachland's denial was confirmed by the Agus-Sylvi campaign team spokesperson, Imelda Sari. "If there are people claiming to be the spokesmen for Agus and Sylvi, assume that it's not true, and that the person in question recognizes that it is just his personal idea," Imelda said on Thursday.
The preliminary quick count results by the number of survey institutes showed that Agus got the least vote on yesterday's gubernatorial campaign. In October last year, when the campaign just started, he topped the survey polls.
In a press conference yesterday, Agus admitted defeat. He congratulated Basuki Purnama Tjahaja and Djarot Saiful Hidayat as well as Anies-Sandi, who are likely to go for the second round of election, competing to be the next governor of Jakarta.
