TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Islamic Defender Front leader Rizieq Syihab greeted his supporters who came to the Jakarta Police to monitor Rizieq's probe.
"I, Bachtiar Nasir and Munawarman have undergone the questioning," Rizieq said in his speech before his supporters at the Jakarta Police on Wednesday, February 1, 2017.
Rizieq extended his gratitude to the supporters and expressed his view about recent developments.
"First, in relation to my status as a suspect at the West Java Police, we have filed a pretrial lawsuit," Rizieq said.
Rizieq also dismissed a rumor related to a video footage claiming to be released on behalf of his name, Firza Husein, and the National Movement to Safeguard the Indonesian Ulema Council’s Fatwa (GNPF-MUI). According to Rizieq, the video footage was intended as a slander. Rizieq clarified that Firza also dismissed the allegation and planned to file a lawsuit against the uploader.
Rizieq also explained that he, along with Bachtiar Nasir and Munarman, were questioned as witnesses for Rachmawati Soekarnoputri, who was named as a suspect in an alleged treason case. Rizieq asserted that the December 2 Rally launced in Monas, Jakarta, was not an act of treason, "but a call for law enforcement against religious defamer."
Finally, Rizieq told his supporters that figures at the GNPF MUI were outrageous knowing that Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama, the defendant in the religious blasphemy case, and his lawyers, had insulted MUI chairman Ma'ruf Amin during a trial.
