TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) spokesperson Febri Diansyah confirmed that his institution along with police has arrested an official at the residence owned by Head of Education and Culture Agency of North Tapanuli District, North Sumatra, during a sting operation.
The arrest took place on Wednesday, December 21, 2016. ”Yes, a joint team of KPK and the Police conducted a sting operation (OTT) at the house of Head of Education and Culture Agency of North Tapanuli District yesterday,” Febri confirmed on Thursday, December 22, 2016.
He revealed they confiscated money worth Rp235 million, US$100, and 200 Yuan.
According to Febri, the case is currently handled by local police with the assistance from KPK members. “KPK is ready to assist the law enforcers in eradicating corruption,” he said.
Public have been long knowing and made worried by the corruption cases in public services. The bribe money confiscated by KPK were deposits collected from a number of schools that receive grants from the central government.
