Google Doodle Celebrates Indonesia`s Independence Day

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Google doodle today, August 17, 2016, marked the 71st anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day by showing the sketch of Red-White flag hoisting troop.

The flag hoisting troop on the Google Doodle consists of two men and a woman - who brings the Red-White flag - wearing white uniforms. The sketch is right in the 'O' letter at the word 'Google'.

Google will show news related to the 71st Indonesia’s independence once the user clicks the doodle. It also sets the badminton games schedule at the Rio Olympics. Today, Indonesia’s mixed double pair Liliana Natsir/ Tontowi Ahmad will fight against Malaysia’s mixed double pair P. S. Chan/L. Y. Goh to reach a gold medal.

Indonesia, led by Sukarno and Hatta, proclaimed its independence on August 17, 1945, at a house in Central Jakarta now known as Proclamation Monument.
