App-based Taxi Drivers Expected to Convert Their SIM A: Police

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Sr. Comr. Syamsul Bahri, Directorate of Jakarta Police's Traffic Unit said on Monday that all drivers of app-based taxis must convert their driver's license (SIM) A to General SIM A. The drivers could replace their regular SIM A with the general SIM A if it has been running for a year.

"The driver should have SIM A for a year. If not, they cannot pick up passengers," said Bahri.

According to him, the rule is aimed to protect the passengers and to ensure their safety.

"You cannot just pick up the passengers randomly. If needed, we will open a stall (to convert the driver's license) at the app-based taxi's pools," he finished.
