TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian National Police is ready to secure roads and locations of New Year celebration tonight by deploying 87,000 personnel.
“Actually, there will be 190,000 personnel on location, a merger of Indonesian Armed Force (TNI) and Civil Service Police Units (Satpol PP) personnel,” said Public Relation Chief of National Police, Senior Commissioner Suharsono Thursday, December 31.
Suharsono said that 87,000 personnel was the minimum and the number will be adjusted based on the situation on location. “So, it must be more than 100,000 police personnel,” he said.
Suharsono calls on people going out tonight to check on the traffic situation before leaving home to anticipate any possible scenario. “People must be clever. They can check on the media so they’ll know the latest information of the traffic situation,” he said.
By calling NTMC Polri at 9119 or 1500669, people can ask the traffic condition to the official or check through NTMC TV application with your gadget, Suharsono added. This application is connected to CCTVs in many locations all around Indonesia.
