TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Germany in energy development and environmental sector until 2019 spends two billion euros, according to German Ambassador for Indonesia Georg Witschel.

“We have two million euros to be used for environmentally friendly development in Indonesia,” he said on Tuesday.

Witschel said the fund will be used for renewable energy development. The loaning term will be adjusted to Indonesia’s needs. “The term for loaning will be discussed later with related parties in Indonesia,” he said.

He said that Germany cooperated with Indonesia due to factor of global needs and high pollution rate in Indonesia.

“Pollution and natural disturbance are the main factors. If Indonesia can develop without increasing pollution, it will also become advantage for Germany and the world,” said Witschel.

He hoped this cooperation will be able to create climate and economic balance without damaging environmental sustainability.

“This cooperation is a win-win solution because both countries gain benefits. So, there’s no reason not to continue in the future,” said Witschel.
