Lion Air's Flight Slots Revoked

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Transportation Ministry has revoked nine flight slots of Lion Air that were claimed to violate regulations. Suprasetyo, Director General of Air Transportation, said that the flight slots were revoked because Lion Air was unable to operate flights in accordance to the proposed slots.
According to regulations, if an airline is unable to carry out flights that 21 days after the airline apply for a flight slot permit, the flight slot will be revoked. "There are nine flight slots that Lion Air did not operate for 21 days," Suprasetyo said.
The revoked flights slots include Surabaya-Ambon route, Ambon-Surabaya route, Surabaya-Jakarta route, Makassar-Jayapura route, Jayapura-Makassar route, Makassar-Cengkareng route, Cengkareng-Jambi route, Jambi-Cengkareng route and Lombok-Cengkareng route.
Suprasetyo said that those routes will be taken over by other airlines. Meanwhile, Lion Air will not be able to propose additional flight slot permit because the airline is still being evaluated in relation to the recent massive delays.
