Airlines Provide 174 Extra Flights for Holiday Season

TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - State-owned airport services company PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) is preparing 174 additional flights to anticipate a passenger surge during the Christmas and New Year's holiday. Angkasa Pura II spokesman Yudis Tiawan said the will provide 166 additional domestic flights and eight international from December 19, 2014 until January 5, 2015.
For this holiday season, Yudis estimated that the number of passengers will rise by four percent compared to normal days.
According to Yudis, airlines that are providing extra flights are PT Sriwijaya Air (70 flights), PT Citilink Indonesia (49 flights), PT Indonesia AirAsia (31 flights), China Airlines (eight flights), and PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (16 flights).
The additional flights are focused on ten major cities, Surabaya (26 flights), Denpasar (21 flights), Kualanamu (21 flights), Makassar (18 flights), Balikpapan (16 flights), Yogyakarta (13 flights), Padang, Jambi, and Pontianak (10 flights each), and Batam (9 flights).
