AirAsia Protests Relocation of Soekarno-Hatta Airport Immigration

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Aviation company AirAsia has objected the relocation of immigration service from Terminal 3 to Terminal 2 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport. The relocation was seen 'rushing' and expected to have large impacts on the company with the highest number of international flight services.
"We object because it bears very high risk for AirAsia's services and thousands of passengers," said AirAsia spokeswoman Audrey Progestama Petriny to Tempo earlier today.
The relocation will be in effect starting Sunday, August 10, which will affect the immobilization of international flights' passengers. As a result, with the immigration relocation to Terminal 2, AirAsia passengers that reach up to 4,000 people per day have to go back and forth between Terminal 3 and 2. "Once they arrive at Terminal 3, passengers check-in, go to Terminal 2 via buses, line up for immigration, and then return to Terminal 3 for their flights," Audrey said.
The process requires a fairly long time and is very ineffective for their passengers. "The long and tiring immigration process will be felt by our passengers," she uttered.
Based on AirAsia's simulation, the process to receive an immigration service is 75-minute long. "Assuming there is no queue and passengers are not carrying anything at Terminal 2," Audrey said.
