TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Law enforcement officials has identified the gunmen who went on a shooting spree in Los Angeles airport as 23-year-old Paul Cianci, from New Jersey and lived in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said that Paul entered the airport and tried to break the security guard while pointing a semi-automatic rifle. "He pulled out the rifle from his bag," said Garcetting in a press conference shortly after the incident.
The shooting began at around 9.20 am. "Airport police fired back, following the suspect who kept on shooting the crowd in the airport," said Garcetti. Afterwards, the officials managed to arrest him at Terminal 3 of the airport.
Seven people were reportedly injured in the incident and have been brought to the hospitals. Spokesperson of the Ronald Reagan hospital at the UCLA Medical Center confirmed three men sustained injuries from the shooting and one person was in a critical condition.
The investigation of the case has now been taken over by the FBI.
