TEMPO.CO, Bandung - Indonesian Riverboarding Association (IRA) dan Face Level Industries are scheduled to hold the 2013 Face Level Riverboarding World Championships at Citarum River, Bandung, on November 6 to November 10. The competition will also be held to call on the government to pay serious attention to the country's dirtiest river.
Head of the Event;s Committee Rahim Asyik BS, said that the event will be a prestigious competition because it will be the first of its kind in the world.
"This is the first time we are able to gather riverboarders from five continents," he said on Thursday, October 31.
As many as 42 riverboarders from ten countries have signed up for this competition, including Indonesia, the United States, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia. Many of the participants have achieved championship titles in their respective countries and some are legendary riverboarders.
The competition will comprise of four categories up for grabs, which are slalom, boardercross, freestyle surfing, and endurocross with a total cash prize of Rp 50 million (around US$4,409).
