Bandung Monorail Project to Begin in Early 2014

TEMPO.CO, Bandung - West Java governor Ahmad Heryawan said that the construction of Bandung monorail will be applicable in early 2014. "Hopefully the master plan can be completed in 2013. If all elements agree, we'll start the project," said Heryawan after a plenary meeting with West Java Regional Representatives Council (DPRD) at West Java DPRD building in Bandung, Wednesday, June 26.
Heryawan is optimistic that the monorail project will meet expectations. The governor said the Chinese state-owned enterprise China National Machinery & Equipment Import & Export Corporation (CMC) is making an active approach for the project.
"I believe it is because they want to make an offer. Usually, when the investor is actively approaching, that means they already made rough calculations," said Heryawan.
CMC is a Chinese SOE which has agreed to cooperate with West Java administration for the construction of Bandung Monorail. The initial MoU has been signed by both parties in Beijing, China on June 8.
