TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A number of House of Representatives' (DPR) members urged Transportation Ministry to close down budget carrier Lion Air. A Council member from Transportation Commission Bambang Haryo said the decision could be taken because the company had no intention to improve its quality service thus far.
According to Bambang, PT Lion Mentari Airlines on media admitted for being the worst airliner in the country, and so the company must clarify the issue.
"If there is such an airliner like that, it will be better to close the firm. Because it has no good commitment and it will create a bad image on Indonesia’s aviation in the global eye," said Bambang Haryo on Thursday, November 22, 2018, in the Commission V Meeting Room in the Parliament Complex, Senayan, South Jakarta.
The DPR held a meeting today, November 22 to talk on the crash of Lion Air with a tail number JT 610 and a register number PK-LQP on Monday, October 29.
Attending the meeting were Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, National Search and Rescue head Vice Marshall M. Syaugi, National Transportation Safety Commission (KNKT) head Soerjanto Tjahjono, the BMKG head Dwikorita Karnawati, and Jasa Raharja president director Budi Rahardjo.
