TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Setyo Wasisto said there was no special investigation into Indonesialeaks' findings inside the institution, but rather one into parties outside of the force.

“There is no [investigation] inside the institution. I guarantee that we are solid. We conduct an investigation outside [of the police force],” he said at the Police Staff College (PTIK), Jakarta, Monday, October 15.

Indonesialeaks suspected that two members of the National Police, viz. Adj. Sr. Comr. Roland Ronaldy and Comr. Aaron, had tampered with evidence when serving as investigators for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

Both allegedly torn off 15 sheets of a bank account book containing transaction records and erased a number of recipients' names from Basuki Hariman using a Tipp-Ex.

The sheets reportedly displayed recorded transfers of money to the police's top brass, including National Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian.

Setyo has shrugged off the Indonesialeaks' findings, saying the two policemen had been questioned and proven not guilty. He also called on the public to refrain from making an issue out of this case.

"So all parties are expected to keep their cool. Do not pit the two law enforcement agencies against each other, especially the National Police and the KPK. This is a political year," he said at the National Police headquarters in South Jakarta on Wednesday, October 10.
