TEMPO.CO, Bali - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani suggested a topic on disaster risk management and financing to be discussed in the IMF-World Bank Annual Meeting which would take place in Nusa Dua, Bali on October 8-14. Sri conveyed the recommendations through the ministry’s official Youtube channel on Monday, October 8.

“I want this topic as an important discussion in Bali [IMF-WB AM]. So, I list it in the voyage (meeting agenda),” said Sri in a written statement today.

The state treasurer pinned hope the countries prone to the natural disaster would discuss the topic and share their thoughts on the matter considering experts from assurance industry, finance ministers, or multilateral institutions would attend the event.

Sri Mulyani expected the meeting would conclude solutions on dealing with disasters and its financing. “I hope this meeting will create a tri-assurance system,” she added.

The former managing director of the World Bank continued to say the meeting was expected to establish a map, structure, and financing system to be developed and studied in Indonesia, especially on managing the disaster risk.

“Because this is about how to manage the risk and how the risk is mapped, structured to be then financed or covered. That is one of the topics I want to study and develop in Indonesia,” Sri Mulyani remarked.
