TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The executive chairman of Alibaba, Jack Ma, will attend the closing ceremony of the 2018 Asian Games, which will be held on Sunday, September 2, at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Senayan, Central Jakarta. 

“His visit is a form of appreciation from Alibaba Group for the 2018 Asian Games and as a form of support for the 2022 Asian Games, which will be held in Hangzhou, China,” said a spokesman for Alibaba in Indonesia, on Friday, August 31. 

Jack Ma, who was born in Hangzhou, from which he grew up and established the Alibaba headquarters. This will be the third time for China to host the Games, after 1990 in Beijing and 2010 in Guangzhou.

Presently, China still tops the medal table of 2018 Asian Games with 112 gold, 77 gold and 55 bronze medals, folowed by Japan and South Korea. 

Jack Ma is also known for his close ties with Indonesia as an e-commerce advisor. Tech giant Alibaba Group operates in more than 200 countries and was one of the world's most admirable companies according to Fortune magazine.
