Asian Games: Hundreds of Athletes Already Arrived in Palembang

    TEMPO.CO, JakartaAround 350 athletes from 15 countries have already been in the South Sumatran provincial capital of Palembang to compete in the international sporting event of Asian Games.

    Based on data collected from Jakabaring Sports Hall here on Wednesday, the athletes from Thailand, South Korea, Nepal, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Maldives, Japan have continued to arrive since August 10.

    Gradually, they have been arriving at the Sports Hall in Jakabaring Sports City since Friday to compete in the 18th Asian Games from August 18 to September 2, 2018.

    In addition to having started to stay and do the exercises, the athletes and delegates from Asian countries to participate in the sporting event have started utilizing free laundry services provided by the committee at the athletes` house.

    Earlier, Jakabaring Sports City spokesman Mirza Zulkarnain explained that his side has prepared nine buildings with the capacity of 3,100 people for the athletes and officials to stay.

    "The athlete`s house in the Jakabaring Palembang sports complex, or the 18th Asian Games center has facilities equivalent to a two-star hotel with content arrangement per room for three people," Mirza said.

    In addition to providing rooms equivalent to two-star hotels, it also provides food with menus according to international standards.

    With preparations that have been made so far, he is optimistic that he can provide the best services to athletes and officials.
