Some areas still hadn't been reached 24 hours after the quake because of collapsed bridges, blocked and ruptured roads and the loss of power and communications. TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said five bridges were damaged by the Lombok earthquake. The bridges are located in North Lombok, Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara.

As a result, some bridges are temporarily closed and local residents' activities are disrupted because they had to look for alternative ways to cross rivers.

One of the damaged bridges is the Sokong Bridge in Tanjung District, North Lombok.

"The bridge suffered damage to the 15-centimeter main beam," Basuki said in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 7.

The government is also watchful for potential landslides at areas affected by the earthquake. A team from the Ministry noted that there are seven areas that may experience landslides along the national road, between Kilometer-57 and Kilometer-64 from Mataram City.

Lombok was hit by a strong earthquake, measuring 7 on the Richter scale, on Sunday afternoon, August 5. The quake took dozens of lives and injured hundreds. It also left public infrastructure and residents' homes heavily damaged, some collapsing into ruins.
