TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The trial case of blocking Setya Novanto's investigation with defendant Fredrich Yunadi will be held again today, Monday, May 7 in Jakarta Corruption Court. Fredrich was reported to bring a witness who is a professor, Akmal Taher. “Prof. Akmal is an expert in medics,” said Fredrich’s lawyer Sapriyanto Refa via a phone call.

Akmal was graduated from Hannover Medical School and Institute for Peptide Research. He is a surgeon and former president director of Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM). The man born in Jakarta in 1955 had also served as general director of Health Development at Ministry of Health.

In the previous trial, Fredrich asked the panel of judges to extend the hearing trial as he considered to bring more witnesses as many as ten professors.

In addition to professors, Fredrich planned to bring more witnesses to stand with him but rejected by the prosecutor of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). According to Fredrich, from 42 witnesses presented by KPK, only 16 of them have stood in the trial, meanwhile the testimony trial only three times left.

Furthermore, the judge Saifuddin Zuhri asserted he would not add more agenda for witness testimony. But it is possible to extend the days or conduct several trials in a week.
