Anies Baswedan Assures Persija Could Use GBK as Its Home Stadium

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan ensures Persija team could use the Bung Karno Main Stadium (GBK) for their home stadium if there is a football competition.

He had requested permission from the Managing Director of GBK Main Stadium, Winarto, in order to use the stadium.

"GBK is not a home stadium for Persija, but GBK can be used by Persija if there is a home game, they can use it," said Anies in City Hall, Tuesday, March 20.

Persija supporters or Jakmania does not need to go far and it is the result of an agreement from the GBK Main Stadium Manager and the Jakarta Administration to facilitate them.

Governor Anies hopes with the permit, Jakmania can watch in orderly manners, the Jakarta’s pride football team.

"if Persija uses GBK, it is a trust given for Jakmania, so the supporters are expected to keep it, orderly, neat as if it is their private property that needs and must be maintained because it is a facility for the Asian Games," said Anies.

Meanwhile, Managing Director of GBK Main Stadium, Winarto said, so far, if GBK is used for the community and does not interfere the Asian Games, then his party will allow them to use it.

"It has been underlined by Mr. Anies that GBK Main Stadium is a national icon, that means it is open for public and whoever, whatever activities that require being done there, we will be open to receive it, our service is 'first come, first serve," said Winarto about the opportunity for Persija to compete at GBK Main Stadium.
