TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representatives (DPR) official Zainuddin Amali predicts that West Java, Central Java, and East Java will potentially be conflict-prone regions during the 2018 simultaneous regional election.
According to Amali, the conflicts that might spark include money politics, conflicts involving ethnicity, religion and race (SARA), and the spread of hoaxes through social media.

“These conflicts are prone to happen in populated areas such as in those three Java provinces,” said Amali at the National Police headquarters today, January 9.
Other regions outside Java that show similar signs are Aceh, Papua, West Kalimantan, North Sumatra, and South Sulawesi.
In order to anticipate it, the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) held a meeting today with the National Police Chief General Tito Karnavian to discuss the issue. The police's cybercrime team and anti-money politics task force are set to secure the elections.
The General Elections Commission (KPU) set the date for the simultaneous regional elections on June 27, 2018. As many as 171 regions will participate in the democratic process.
