TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or notably known as Jokowi, said that Indonesia is all set to contribute and maintain the security stability of the Korean Peninsula.
“Indonesia is ready to contribute in the attempt to preserve the stability and security on the Korean Peninsula,” said President Jokowi during the 19th ASEAN-South Korea Summit in the Philippines on Monday, November 13.
President Jokowi explained that all of the ASEAN members are worried about the situation that is currently happening on the Korean Peninsula. ASEAN has voiced out against North Korea’s ballistic missile tests in the area.
At the summit, President Jokowi said that he appreciates that South Korean President Moon Jae-In is currently attempting to formulate a peace through dialogue.
President Jokowi also revealed that South Korea is one of ASEAN’s partners that continues to actively develop partnerships with ASEAN countries, which is why President Jokowi urged for the ASEAN-Korean Free Trade Area or AKFTA to be optimized.
