TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Environment Agency held a raid (OTT) in car free day (CFD) area to capture people littering. The raid was carried out along Sudirman Street to Thamrin Street.
"The purpose is to educate the people on and disseminate the message of the importance of throwing garbage on the right places," Central Jakarta Environment Agency’s head of People’s Participation and Law Enforcement unit Masfud said on Sunday (3/9).
In the raid, Masfud deployed 40 ‘orange’ personnel of Central Jakarta Public Facility Maintenance Agency (PPSU) who patrolled in Thamrin. They were on guard from 06:00 in the morning to maintain the cleanliness of the area and monitor CFD visitors who litter.
When caught red-handed, the residents will be charged with one of two sanctions, which is civil and social sanctions. Civil sanction is paying a fine reaching Rp 500 thousand. Meanwhile, the social sanction imposes the perpetrator to wear a sign written on it ‘I will never litter again’ and collect garbage monitored by the orange army.
