Police Depart for Singapore to Question Novel Baswedan

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit will depart for Singapore today to question Novel Baswedan over an acid attack against him.

Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono said that investigators will question Novel’s account on the timeline of the attack and individuals he accused of doing it. According to Argo, the police will also verify Novel’s statement that a senior police officer was behind the attack. The police may also show the sketches of the perpetrators.

Novel have been treated in a Singapore hospital since April 12. Both of his eyes were damaged and have been needing a surgery to fix them. The police had suspended questioning for that reason.

Argo said that Jakarta Police investigation team will be accompanied by the KPK chief Agus Rahadjo, a source said.

The KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah has confirmed that the KPK leader and the police’s departure to Singapore. He said that Novel Baswedan questioning will take place at the Indonesian Embassy in the country.
