TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police deputy chief Comr. Gen. Syafruddin said that the police have scheduled a questioning of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Novel Baswedan, a victim of an acid attack on April 11. However, he declined to reveal the date of the questioning.
Investigation into the acid attack against Novel have been sluggish. Some 117 days after the incident, the police have yet to arrest two perpetrators of the attack. The police reasoned that Novel had rejected a request for questioning. They expect the latter to submit the evidence in his possession.

The slow process of investigation has prompted the Civil Society Coalition to call for the establishment of a fact-finding team to shed a light on the problem. Dahnil Azran Simanjuntak, the head of Islamic organization Pemuda Muhammadiyah, explained that a fact-finding team would provide data in relation to the case for a pro-justitia process. Dahnil said that a joint team would assist the police to ensure an objective legal process.
The police have rejected the idea of forming a fact-finding team, citing progress in the investigation into the case, such as the release of sketches of the alleged assailants. Syafruddin added that the police and the KPK are stepping up legal process.
