TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Senior Investigator Novel Baswedan claims to have collected every piece of evidence that corroborates his allegation of a police general’s involvement in the attempt to tamper with evidence that is related to the acid attack he experienced in April.
He claims that an active high ranking officer at the Indonesian National Police main Headquarters is also responsible for a string of terrors received by numerous KPK investigators. “I have the evidence, I am not fabricating it. I am prepared to hand over every piece of evidence to a fact finding team if such team does get established later on,” said Novel on Wednesday, August 2.

The case has gone on its 114th day of investigation without showing any signs of police successfully revealing the two suspects claimed to be responsible for the acid attack against Novel Baswedan on Tuesday, April 11. Novel’s left eye was severely injured in the attack and had to undergo treatment in Singapore.
He publicly revealed the allegation of a high ranking officer’s involvement several weeks ago. Novel received information of an order issued by the general towards the investigation team to erase the finger prints that were on an evidentiary item. Police claim that the powder they used was unable to reveal any fingerprints because the glass was already coated by acid.
Novel Baswedan presumes that the attack he experienced is related to several terror attempts against other KPK investigators. One piece of evidence in his possession is a letter that had information about several KPK investigators and their daily travel routes.
