TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Djarot Saiful Hidayat has recently been inaugurated as the new Jakarta Governor by President Jokowi at the State Palace.

Djarot says that he plans to visit the former Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok at Police Mobile Brigade Headquarter. Ahok was sentenced guilty for a case involving blasphemy.

“I’ll be travelling to Police Mobile Brigade headquarters. I have previously been there to discuss about things, later won’t be different,” said Djarot on Thursday, June 15.

Djarot said that his inauguration is only possible because of Ahok’s statesmanship attitude in voluntarily stepping down from his position as governor.

By doing so, according to Djarot, Jakarta Officials would be able to complete a number of tasks and obligations left by Ahok.

“The greatness of Pak Ahok is that he prioritizes the interests of the public and wants to complete Jakarta’s development as soon as possible,” said Djarot.

This means that Djarot’s time in office is limited to only four months. Considering that Anies Baswedan-Sandiaga Uno will assume office starting in October.

Djarot is forced by circumstances to complete a number of projects and work programs that were not able to be completed without a Deputy Governor.
