TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Acting Jakarta governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat said that the development of RPTRA is neither for the sake of interest of Ahok nor his.
According to Darot, the child-friendly integrated public spaces are developed for children, housewives and mothers, and all Jakarta residents, particularly those who live in densely populated neighborhoods.
“We never see that what we do is for Ahok and Djarot,” Djarot said when receiving a donation of 20,000 books from The Asia Foundation Indonesia at the City Hall today, June 9.
Djarot asked mayors of Jakarta about the existence and benefits of public spaces. He guaranteed that RPTRA in Jakarta must be protected by a law so that their developments can be maintained.
“We promise that child-friendly public spaces will remain exist, develop, provide benefits and be well-maintained. Therefore, a strong legal basis is necessary. A gubernatorial regulation is not enough. We need to make it as a regional regulation,” he said.
Djarot hopes that his successor will continue to develop the RPTRA.
