Import Duty of Malaysian Cars Decrease

24 November 2006 16:38 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The government has decreased import duty of Malaysian automotive products. The duty of a completely built up (CBU) car is decreased from 20 percent to five percent. However, the government did not decrease completely knock-down (KCD) car. It remains 0 percent. The decrease of the import duty was included in the Finance Ministerial Regulation Number 104/PMK.010/2006 concerning Revokation of Finance Ministerial Regulation Number 111/PMK.010/2005 concerning Re-Enactment of Import Duty In Response To Scheme of Common Effective Preferential Duty (CEPT) Upon Import of Malaysian Completely Knock- Down (CKD) and Completely Built Up (CBU) Cars. The head of the Public Relations Bureau at the Department of Finance, Samsuar Said, explained that the new Malaysian car import duty was applicable as of 3 November 2006. The government issued the policy of the reduction because Malaysia had decreased import duty on CBUs to five percent. Both countries have met the partnership commitment in line with the common effective preferential duty scheme in the ASEAN free-market zone, he said in a press conference today (11/24).Agus Supriyanto
